Esraa Bani-Rothman is the founder of Moms Guide Abu Dhabi. The 28-year-old Sudanese American expat lives in Abu Dhabi and has two daughters (4 and 18 months).
My background..
I arrived in the UAE in February 2012. I have a Masters degree in Public Health and previously worked as a non-profit worker, advocating women’s issues. I’m into organic and green living – and I love supporting businesses aimed at mums. I work alongside Manal Hamid, an Emirati, who has two children of her own (3 and 10 months). She spent eight years in the US, where she graduated with a BSc in Genetics and went on to work in Sheikh Khalifa Medical hospital. Manal is the Chief Operating Officer; the fine-tuner. I’m the founder, the dreamer, and the visionary. We’re both fluent in English and Arabic.

Moms Guide Abu Dhabi was initiated in April 2012, but didn’t launch publicly until 1st October. It is a guide for both Emirati and expat mothers living in the Abu Dhabi region. We love the city and want to show families why it’s one of the best places in the world to raise your family. Everything we do is based on a need that we, as busy, active moms ourselves, felt were not being met. We are conscious of quality, value, and correct information.
We want to provide moms with the tools they need to live full and exciting lives, both as adult women and as mothers. As moms, we are often relegated to the mother sector and it’s as though people forget we were human, adult, and women before we became mothers.
I am looking for..
Our next project is our “Community Outreach Project” (COP), which will include a blog and events, amongst other things. The aim of the blog is to be so intriguing that you want to come back for more! We’re also looking to move our website and marketing to the next level. Here’s a list of positions we are currently looking for:
1. Graphic designers: People who can make fliers, banners, and marketing material for future events, our campaigns, our website and our blog.
2. Writers and editors: Passionate mothers who are active in the community.
3. Reviewers: Love a product, place, or service provider and want to spread the word? Whatever you feel deserves to be supported, we want to know and share it with our network.
4. Volunteers: We have plans for some excellent activities in our community and would love it if people contacted us to be included in a volunteer list.
