This online portal was founded by Loulou El Khazen Baz, a Dubai-based entrepreneur in 2012 with the aim to make freelance work accessible in the MENA region. The website was created amidst the unemployment crisis in the region and aimed to help talented people, namely students and stay-at-home moms, find work.
Today more than 17,000 freelancers have created profiles on the website. The easy-to-use format of the website prompts users to list an unlimited number of skills and include their level of proficiency in each. It does not ask for their CVs nor for their positions in the corporate world. Employers on the other hand, also post jobs in terms of the skills they require. Freelancers can then browse the extensive list of available jobs and apply to those that match their skillsets. In the pool of skills, graphic design, photography, and web development are the most abundant, but you can find all types of skill sets including diamond graders to art agents.
