New survey reveals average salaries for top industries in UAE
How much you earn is still very much a taboo subject. But here in the UAE, where money talks a little louder than in other parts of the world, the topic certainly garners a lot of interest.
For those who have a yearning to know what their colleague or friend might be earning, recruitment firm Hays has lifted the lid on average salaries across some of the biggest sectors in the country.
What’s interesting from the report is that in Finance, one of the traditionally higher paid industries in the world, a staggering 94 per cent of respondents said they will consider looking for a new job this year. So perhaps things aren’t quite as peachy at the top as you might think.
Conversely, those working in the Construction and Property industries felt lucky to even have a job. 94 per cent of Architects in the UAE said they were relieved to be employed and 94 per cent of Engineers said they were looking to progress with their current employer this year.
In HR things look pretty good overall with 63 per cent of respondents saying they had received a pay rise last year and 80 per cent said they expected to receive one this year.
Those working in the IT sector meanwhile don’t seem to mind how much they are paid. The survey revealed that only 31 per cent of those surveyed rank salary as the most important factor when considering a new role yet 82 per cent said they expected to receive a pay rise this year.
