ME REGION ASSISTANT CONTROLLER OF FINANCE, PROFESSIONAL SERVICES MULTINATIONAL, DIFC

Reporting to the local finance director and acting as a trusted business partner you will be responsible for the the day to day running of the Dubai based finance tea,, provision of management reporting and focusing on the financial management of our client engagements.

The position includes the following tasks:

  • Finance responsibilities will include Statutory compliance, accounting and audit (incl supervision of outsourced statutory accountants) Tax compliance (in cooperation with local advisors) controlling of local engagements (incl working capital management) Reporting, ad-hoc analysis, forecasting and planning.
  • Operational responsibilities will include assistance to the team with project management, development, requests for proposals and client administrative projects.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Structures and directs financial accounting and reporting activities, both for IFRS and local GAAP reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and policies as well as regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Continously monitor financial processes and identfy/implement process inhancements while supervising and coaching the Dubai based finance team.
  • Manages month-end accounts reconcilliation and cash balances, as well as reconcilliation of IFRS to statutory accounts. Supervise and potentially performs all accounting activities but noit limited to GL, WIP, AR, AP, Time +Expense, Cash management, fixed asets, intercompanies, tax erporting including deferred taxes, transfer pricing, payroll cycle.
  • Supports preparation of reports to summarize and forecast business activities and financial position of each entity and unit.
  • Consults and advises management on financial issues, business development, compliance, risk management and manages working capital.

The qualifications and personal skills we are looking for are: • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance and chartered accountant exam.

  • Excellent communications in English with Arabic an advantage.
    • Good knowledge of tax and audit with a minimum 5 years of Big 4 and/or accounting leadership in a sizeable global organisation in the ME region including general ledger and subledger activities, budgeting and financial modelling.
    • Strong team management, finance leadership and business partnering experience.
  • Strong background in compliance and controls. IFRS is a must with local GAAP (among ME countries) an advantage.
    • Self motivated team player with excellent attention to detail even under time pressure..
